Reflexology –
Jewel O’Connell
What is Reflexology?
It is a science that deals with
the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and
hands which correspond to all the glands, organs and parts
of the body.
The feet can be seen as a mirror of the whole
body. By applying pressure to certain reflex points on the
feet the body can be bought back into balance and harmony.
History of Reflexology
The art of reflexology appears in several forms among many
cultures including Egypt, China, Russia and Japan. North American
Indian medicines men manipulated and stimulated the feet as
part of their healing practices. Inscriptions depicting foot
massage were found in an Egyptian physicians tomb (Anahmahor)
and are thought to date back to 2330 BC. The Chinese have
been using the application of pressure as a healing therapy
for over 5000 years.
What can you feel
during treatment?
Reflexology is designed to stimulate all of the reflex areas
of the feet to bring about profound relaxation. Reflexology
is safe, natural healing technique that can benefit everyone
from young to old.
What will I expect
after my first treatment?
It is normal that some internal cleansing will take place.
Therefore it is recommended that you drink plenty of water.
Since reflexology opens up energy pathways that were previously
congested or closed, your body may respond in a definite way.
You may have a feeling of well-being and relaxation or you
may feel lethargic, nauseous or tearful, but this is just
transitory.
