Traditional Thai
Bodywork – Jewel O’Connell
What is Thai Bodywork?
It is a traditional form of holistic healing known
as a northern style ‘Nand-Borarn’ in Thailand.
Its origins date back 2500 years. The combination of yoga
like stretches, reflexology and acupressure makes this treatment
a unique experience improving overall health and well being.
Thai Bodywork re-connects the energy of the
body, mind and spirit, creating a lasting feeling of wellbeing.
The therapist uses hands, feet, knees, elbows and body weight
in a flowing series of meditative movements to release blocked
energy and stimulate energy flow throughout the body.
Thai Bodywork pacifies and energises through
a sequence of specialised techniques including; Rocking and
breathing, a smooth and relaxing introduction to connect with
the body. Palming – A nurturing technique to relax the
body and prepare it for deeper pressure work moving in to
a more receptive state. Thumb Pressure – to awaken and
unlock energy lines similar to acupressure. Stretching the
body – increases flexibility releasing deep and superficial
tension. Helps the body’s natural energy, flow more
freely. Dynamic Movements of the body – encourages flexibility
and stimulates all the internal organs.
It is for everyone regardless of age, flexibility.
Thai Bodywork is carried out fully clothed on a futon mat,
with the client wearing loose comfortable clothing.
